Capybaras (aka Capy Corner)

@ Lucky Lemon Farm

We’re so excited to introduce the newest (and cutest!) members of our farm—our baby capybaras! We have 3 girls and 1 boy, and they are already bringing so much joy to our space.

Capybaras, often called “capys,” are known for their incredibly gentle, social, and calm nature. They thrive in connection and love being around others, which makes them a perfect fit for our programs in the center and at our farm.

Through our Capy Encounters, families and children will have the opportunity to meet, interact with, and learn about these amazing animals in a safe and guided environment. Whether it’s observing their sweet personalities up close or sharing a quiet moment with them, these encounters are designed to create meaningful, memorable experiences for everyone who visits our farm.

WHAT'S INCLUDED: Our 30-minute Capybara Encounters are designed to be a fun, hands-on experience for the whole family! Each encounter includes a feeding experience ($45/person), giving guests the opportunity to safely offer snacks while petting and interacting with our sweet capybaras in a small, guided setting. These intimate experiences allow for meaningful, up-close connection in a calm and supportive environment. It’s a wonderful way for kids to build confidence around animals and nature, while parents stay fully engaged and enjoy the experience alongside them. You also have the option to add on a tour of Lucky Lemon Farm following your encounter, where you can interact with and explore more of our animals—including goats, chickens, bunnies, tortoises, pigs, and ducks!

BIRTHDAY PARTY ADD-ON: Make your child’s celebration even more unforgettable by adding a Capy Encounter to your party for $150! This add-on gives the entire party the opportunity to meet, interact with, and enjoy time with our sweet capybaras in a fun and guided experience. From gentle pets to up-close moments, it’s a unique and memorable activity that sets your party apart. Perfect for animal lovers and curious kids, this one-of-a-kind experience brings an extra layer of excitement and joy that guests will be talking about long after the celebration ends! INTRODUCING CAPYBARAS TO OUR PROGRAMS: Our capybaras will now be a special part of all future farm tours across our workshop series, one-day camps, and summer camps!  During their time at the farm, children will have the opportunity to meet and observe our capys up close.  They will learn fun facts about their behavior, how to care for them and engage in gentle, guided interaction.  Incorporating these unique animals into our programming adds an exciting new layer to the experience, while continuing to support our mission of building confidence, curiosity, and connection with nature.

Frequently Asked questions (FAQs)

What ages can participate?

All ages are welcome to observe, and hands-on interactions are typically best suited for children ages 3 and up with adult supervision.  Staff will guide all interactions based on comfort and safety.

Can I feed the Capybaras?

All Capybara Encounters include a feeding experience, where guests will have the opportunity to safely offer approved snacks under staff supervision. Feeding interactions are guided and always based on the capybaras’ comfort level to ensure a positive experience for both guests and animals.

Do I need to book in advanced?

Yes, we highly recommend booking in advance, as capybara experiences are limited and fill up quickly. Walk-ins are NOT available.

What should we wear?

We recommend comfortable clothing and closed-toe shoes. Since we are a farm environment, guests should dress for outdoor conditions and be prepared for a hands-on, nature-based experience.

What happens if my child is nervous or unsure?

That’s completely okay! Participation is always optional, and our staff will never pressure any guest. Children are welcome to observe first and engage only when they feel comfortable.

Can I take photos?

Yes! Guests are encouraged to take photos during their experience, as long as it does not disrupt or stress the animals.  Staff can also help capture special moments when possible.
